Day 01: Arrival - Anuradhapura
Our Tour Guide will meet you at the Katunayake International Airport upon your arrival to Sri Lanka and transfer to Anuradhapura.
Check in at Palm Garden village Hotel. Visit the 8 places of veneration and other historical sites in Anuradhapura.
Dinner and overnight stay at Palm Garden Village Hotel.
Day 02: Anuradhapura - Jaffna
After an early breakfast proceeds to Jaffna, continued the journey until on the infamous A9.
Short stop at the tiny museum for in Vavunia. There is not much to see but a few artifacts from 5 century BC. It shows the history of Sri Lanka and how there was an advanced civilization even during that time. Lunch en route. another 5min stop at the Murikandy Pillayar Shrine. The water tank destroyed by the LTTE is on the road side in Kilinochi At Elephant Pass see the vehicle that a young Sri Lankan soldier detonated by wearing a bomb on himself, to protect the army camp from the LTTE. Elephant Pass is the only place in Sri Lanka where one could see the sun rise and sun set from the same place.
Check in at Pillaiyar Inn for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 03: Jaffna – Nagadeepa - Vavunia
Visit Nagadeepa Island in Jaffna after the breakfast.
It is one of the places in Sri Lanka that the Lord Buddha was said to have visited by the Great Chronicle of Mahavamsa. According to legend Lord Buddha visited the site to resolve a conflict between 'Naga' tribesmen who build the temple to honour the settlement. The boat ride takes 20min (one way) you will spend half day on this excursion. There is also a kovil on the same island, from where the boat leaves for the main land. Preferably, (should be attired in white clothes. No short skits/ shorts/ sleeveless/ skinnies. A cap, scarf or an umbrella would be useful.) Abandoned houses and small settlements centered around the village as well can be seen.
Back to Pillaiyar Inn and proceed to Vavuniya. Check in at Nelly Star Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 04: Vavunia – Trincomalee - Polonnaruwa
After breakfast at Nelly Star Hotel, leave for Polonnaruwa via Thiriyaya & Trinclomalee.
Visit Girihandu Seya in Thiriyaya. Girihadu seya is considered as the first Dageba in Sri Lanka, done by Thapassue Balluka Merchants. This was built enshrining the relic container containing “Sacred Hair Relic” (Kesha Dhathu of Lord Buddha.
Proceed to Trincomalee for a City tour. Visit Thirukoneshwarn Kovil which is located in the Fort Federick built by Portuguese during their colonial period.
Proceed to Polonnaruwa and check in at Polonnaruwa Rest House for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 05: Polonnaruwa – Mahiynagana - Kandy
After breakfast, visit the Polonnaruwa historical site including, Lankathilaka & Thiwanka image houses, Thuparama, Rankot Vehera & Kirivehera Stupas, Gal-Vihara; rock statues of Lord Buddha, Vatadage etc...
Proceed to Kandy via Mahiyanganaya. Visit aincient Mahiyangana Temple. Mahiyangana Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka. It is believed to be the site of Gautama Buddha's first visit to the country, and is one of the 16 sacred religious locations in Sri Lanka.
Proceed to Kandy and check in at Queen Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 06: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya after the breakfast.
Before you proceed to Nuwara Eliya visit the Sacred Temple of Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. This is one of the most venerable places to the Buddhists in Sri Lanka and during the months of July/August the Asia’s most colourful event; Kandy Esala Perahera (pageant) takes place in Kandy.
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya. Have a stop at a Tea Factory to see the production process that the world renowned finest Ceylon Tea. Also you will be able to taste a cup of pure Ceylon Tea.
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya and check in at Avian Breeze. Afternoon at leisure to explore Nuwara Eliya City.
Dinner and overnight stay at Avian Breeze.
Day 07: Nuwara Eliya – Adam’s Peak
Breakfast at Silver Falls Inn. Till lunch, you are free to explore the surroundings in the Nuwara Eliya town and suburbs.
Proceed to Nallathanni after lunch. Check in at Watsala Inn in Dalhousie and wait till evening to start the Adams Peak Hike. After dinner at Wathsala Inn we will start the climb. Since the peak is crowned by the impression of a gigantic footprint, which is venerated by pilgrims of all religions. Buddhists pay homage to it as that of Lord Buddha, made during his third visit to the island. Once you reach the peak, you will wait till the sunrise. NB* The season for the Adam’s Peak climb is Full Moon day of December till full moon day in May. If you are travelling in the off season, the climb will be a day climb and return to Dalhousie on the day.
Day 08: Adam’s Peak – Colombo
Witness the glorious sunrise from the top of the Adams Peak and start descend to Nallathanniya back to Wathsala Inn and leave for Colombo.
Check in at Galadari Hotel and refresh yourselves before the City tour in the Colombo Capital City.
In the evening you will do a shopping tour in the Colombo city. Colombo even a commercial city, the needs of the leisure travellers can be fulfilled with the range of activities available in the city. Great shopping arcades, luxury hotels, restaurants, Karaoke Bars, Casinos, nightclubs and other entertainment facilities available within the city limits.
Dinner could be taken at a restaurant in the City. Overnight stay at Galadari Hotel.
Day 09: Colombo - Departure
After having breakfast at Galadari Hotel, you will be transferred to Airport to connect the departure flight.
