TOUR ITINERARY

Day 01 : Bandaranaike International Airport – Colombo

Arrive in Sri Lanka. Clients will be met by representatives of Asian Escapes & transferred to Colombo.

Overnight stay at a Hotel In Colombo.

Day 02: Colombo – Kandy

Morning Proceed to Colombo railway stations & leave for Kandy by train.
Departure-Colombo railway station at 0700 Hrs Arrive -Kandy station at 0930 Hrs.

Do city tour of Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum & Royal Botanical Gardens. *Kandy – the hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera. The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

*Royal Botanical Gardens – 147 acres in extent: started in 1374 as a pleasure garden of the King’s of Kandy. There are more than 5000 species of tree and plants. Some and endemics as well as flora from the tropical world. Spice garden and Orchid House are popular with Tourists.

Late afternoon visit * Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess’ hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka’s most prized possession.

Day 03: Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast proceed to Peradeniya station & leave for NuwaraEliya by train.

Departure-Peradeniya station at 10:54 Hrs Arrive-Nanuoya station at 14:36 Hrs.

The tour takes you through rolling tea plantation, gushing streams, plunging waterfalls and misty mountains to the country’s main hill resort which is considered to be one of the most picturesque journeys in the world.

*NuwaraEliya – The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the island, but is really just like an England spring day although the temperature does drop at night. All around NuwaraEliya you will see evidence of the British influence. Houses are like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions.

Day 04: Nuwara Eliya – Badulla

After breakfast leisure at the hotel.

Afternoon proceed to Nanuoya station & leave for Badulla by train
Departure-Nanuoya station at 14:36 Hrs Arrive -Badulla station at 17:53 Hrs.

Badulla is last railway station of upcountry Sri Lanka. Railway station number of Badulla railway station is 290. There are 42 railway tunnels to Badulla from Colombo.

Day 05 : Badulla – Colombo

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Muthiyanga Temple in Badulla town in the morning. Leave for Colombo via Bandarawela & Haputale.  If the time permits you will be abe to visit a Gem Museum & Lapidary at the City of Gems; Rathnapura. Check in at the hotel upon your arrival at Colobmo.

Leave for a City & Shopping tour in Colombo. A drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street – the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and Independence Square.

Evening shopping in Colombo – Visit Arcade Independence Square, Dutch Hospital in Colombo Fort, Majestic City, Crescat Boulevard Shopping mall etc… In the late evening you will be free to experience the nightlife and entertainment in Colombo.

Day 06 : Colombo – Bandaranaike International Airport

After breakfast & transferred to the Bandaranayke International Airport for the flight back.
